From the Pastor’s Desk: October 14th, 2018

My question for you to ponder this week is this: When do you feel most alive? One of the times I feel most alive is when I’m skiing down a mountain. There is something about the cold air rushing by, being outside in nature and the pure joy of flying down the slopes that awakens something in me.

In John 10:10 Jesus said, “I came so that they may have life and have it abundantly.”  A favorite depiction of this verse is a painting hanging in our youth room of a big delicious ice cream cone ready to be eaten up on a hot summer day. I love that visual representation of abundant life.

A significant part of experiencing the abundant life is being able to realize that we are not the center of the universe and that we are called to serve others. The motto around here is that St. Victoria strives to reach out to all as the face and hands of Jesus Christ. This weekend we are hosting a Harvest of Gifts fair for you to have an opportunity to learn about how you can find opportunities to serve and build community with our parish.

Folks, I tell you that Harvest of Gifts is the Super Moon Buffet of ministry opportunities. There is really something for everyone. We have over forty places that could use your gifts for the kingdom. If God has been tugging at your heart to find a way to be more connected here at St. Victoria, consider this your formal invitation. If you can’t make the fair, check out stvictoria.net/harvest for the online version.

Lastly, I want to draw your attention to those who might be interested that on October 25th at 6:00 pm we are having an informational meeting about the Holy Land Tour that Deacon Ray and I will be leading next fall. Please join us if this is of interest.

Many blessings to you this week,

Fr. Bob
