Lead in: Peter was very comfortable with how things were on top of the mountain and would have stayed there if he could. But, Jesus informed him that they needed to move on.
Prompt: Reflect on a time when you were very comfortable with where you were but something inside you told you it was time to move on.
Lead in: Following Jesus as a modern-day disciple may not cost us our lives. But it does ask of us a willingness to die in a different way. It may mean dying to what we want for the sake of what others need.
Prompt: Reflect on a time when you put aside what you wanted for the sake of what others needed.
Lead in: When we die to ourselves for the sake of another, God has a way of accomplishing through us something greater and bigger than we could ever accomplish on our own.
Prompt: Reflect on a time when God accomplished through you something greater and bigger than you could have ever accomplished on your own.
Lead in: In receiving Jesus in Eucharist, we are called not to hold back on Jesus, but to give to Jesus our commitment that, āIām in! You can count on me!ā
Prompt: If there is any area of your life where you are tempted to hold back on Jesus, where is that?
Lead in: The more we die to ourselves, the more Christ is able to live his life in us — making our lives all the better.
Prompt: Reflect on a time when you knew your life was better because dying to yourself allowed Christ to live his life more fully in you.
Lead in: On the mountain that day with his face aglow with the radiance of the Divine, Jesus was transfigured before his disciples. A similar spark of the Divine exists within each of us, transfiguring us from within, anointing us to do great things.
